Looking for 50+ lbs of kanuma to mix into my azalea and pine mix. Anyone know who has it cheapest?

Email satsukibonsai-en.com. He was hit by that bad tornado a few months ago so I'm not sure if he's rebuilt yet. If he isn't back up and running try weetree in oregon, not sure if they have it in stock though.

Jason,

Contact Brad at the Bonsai Learning Center and let him know what you are looking for. If he buys bulk, it may be the cheapest way to get it, so you can save on shipping. Tell him you are pretty sure others will be looking for some to, in fact, I will need 2 bags in the spring.

Regards,
Martin

Will do Martin. I wasn't sure if you or anyone else in the group would need it. I haven't used it but I feel it would improve the vigor of some acid loving plants.

Medium seems a good choice, your thoughts?

I definitely need 2 possibly 3 bags of small and medium sized kanuma for the spring. Don't know where i'll get it yet, figured it was a ways off and i'll find it somewhere before then...

Jason,

Maybe we need to poll the locals and give Brad an estimate. I haven't purchased in a while, but medium seems right. The smallest pieces after sifting seem small even for shohin. The plants I used it on seemed less pleased than similar sized plants in similar sized pots in soil with larger particles. Plus, it seems that kanuma breeds small pieces every time I look at the bag, never mind touch it!

If I remember correctly, Brad says most of the cost on Japanese soils is shipping from West Coast to local.

Regards,
Martin
