Hi guys,

I recently saw this juniper online, the foliage seemed very fine for me to be itoigawa or kishu. I think this might be san jose juniper, but I see no young neddle here....
Which variety of juniper do you think this one might be?

Thank for your help and suggestion 😁

Stringy foliage can also be present in turbinata / phoenicea junipers, those are found throughout the Mediterranean and inland France.
Some Spanish isles have wild varieties with very compact foliage that's close to sabina or itoigawa.

Yes it have Phoenicea vibes, also could be generic Chinensis, when the tree will get the cones would be much easy the differentiation

After looking around I think I found it. This could be a hollywood juniper or Chinensis torulosa

Its not Hollywoood/torulosa/kaikuza. Its a different texture, and forms spirals.

Now I cannot think of any other type that have that fine fogliage.... They seller said it's imported from Japan but you can never really trust that kind of comment. He also told me it should be a Kishu but Kishu's foliage is the opposite of that. Phoenicea had a feather like foliage I believe
