Sorry if this is covered somewhere but does anyone know how long it takes for Mr. Valavanis to send back issues after ordering? I have looked everywhere and I cannot find any information on an ETA. My conformation does specify "Date requested null", so I'm hoping it will still ship. I know hes a super busy guy, and I am trying to be patient, but I'd still like to know. Does anyone one have any idea?

This is what I messaged
"Good afternoon Mr. Valavanis, or is it Dr., I've seen that used before. I am a fan of your work, and am trying to learn everything I can about maples. In all my research, I have found that you might be one of the most knowledgeable in this country. I have found your resources to be very helpful, and have ordered every magazine backorder I could that relates to maples. I understand you're a very busy person was just hoping on just a little bit of intel of when I might be able to expect those issues. I am a little hungry for knowledge right now, and would greatly appreciate any resources that you might be able to recommend for acers. Thank you for your time and inspiration, I hope to potentially hear from you."

Web Searching that phrase leads to some sh that looks like programming code.

Welcome to Crazy!

Have you called them? That's probably the most straightforward way to find out. The number is on the home page

Bill is a busy guy. He may be traveling, etc. I know he's in Japan pretty often.

Thank you everyone! I believe i have my answer, and am satisfied with it. It was never my intention to expedite the process, this and the private messages have been a tremendous help. I will continue to look forward to it.

You're in ffx, va? do you know any maple specialists around us who i can potentially learn from? Just curious on the community outside of the NVBS here.

Don't know of "specialists," but the NVBS is a good starting point. I had joined a study group a while back that began from members of that club. Have drifted away. FWIW, there are more than a few folks in the DMV that have spectacular bonsai collections, but don't participate in clubs regularly. Connecting with those folks can take time.

Also don't know what level of learning you're looking for---There are bonsai professionals (Danny Coffey, Owen Reich) who do personal instruction, as well as workshops at places such as Eisei En in Nashville, but those guys are expensive for entry level.

I also placed an order for some back issues in June, but as far as i know they haven't shipped. I just tried calling the # on the International Bonsai site and left a message. If anyone has any input or recommendations that would be great.

I ordered a photo book off the site a while back. Never got the book. Emailed and didn't get a response back. I wasn't charged, but I did get an order number. I don't understand that kind of business practice.

International Bonsai isn't a big retailer like Bonsai Outlet or Stone Lantern. It's basically Bill and his wife with a few volunteers that help with trees etc. If they have been away, it could take time.

If it's been a few weeks since you emailed, try again.

Yes, I know what they do. We've vended at the same show earlier this year. This happened a while back. When you're in business every legitimate email you receive should be answered is all I'm saying. We all get busy, but you should never leave your customer hanging.

No need to get mad at me.
I understand your frustration and I don't necessarily disagree with you.
I'm just trying to help. I don't keep tabs on who goes to what shows together and I've no idea what your business name is (I see a website in your signature so I guess thats it). I might have seen you at a show but didnt know it was you.

Bill is in his 70's, now, I think. He's also had some health issues of late. If you know him, you know leaving the customer hanging is probably the last thing on his list to do...
