What type of tree this is?

Hello all!

My parents got me this lovely Bonsai tree for Christmas, however I'm not sure what type it is.
(Images below)

Any ideas?

It also goes from having green to brown leaves every now and then, and back to green. So any thoughts on how often I should water this (unknown) Bonsai?

(It has a fast growing baby shoot/sapling too! Is it a weed??)

Hi Sorce,

Located in South West England! Almost the end of Winter here, spring is the end of March.

Haha, I know I know, I'll get one soon. Perhaps it's Bonsaipunk with the tinfoil?

Any idea on the type of bonsai it is?

I think the tree is a Zelkova and those are often sold in garden centers as an indoor bonsai.

Sorry but even with the out of focus pics no way that's a zelkova unless being indoors makes the leaves and trunk way different than outdoors.
I'm not sure what it actually is though.

Its Sageretia theezans, Chinese sweet plum, they are not the easiest to start, also the mud they came in dont help. In that soil it doesnt have very much future sorry to say it
