What the hell is growing out of my leaves!!

Last night I noticed 3-4 on my Benjamin Ficus. They were growing out the top of the leaf. Got rid of them and told my self Ill look it up tomorrow. Well today I'm seeing a couple on my Schefflera, but growing out under the leaf ??? Never ran into this problem before. I know I have seen it on the internet before when searching something else. Wasn't sure if it was disease or bug related searches when I came across it before. I can't seem to find anything on it now. The pictures I tried to take the best I could. The last picture I drew a example of what it looks like if you can't make it out. Thanks..

They lay them on my jeep, outdoor blinds, everywhere!

You say don't kill them, but I'm also reading they can damage you trees as well??
