so i’ve heard that weeping willows are one of the easiest trees to root, just soak em in water for couple weeks till they push out few roots then pot them. ive heard this can be done anytime of the year and any size diameter trunk up to 5 inches, how true is that? can i start this purple willow now or wait till the flowers fall and leaves harden?

also can i get an id on the green leaf, looks like some sort of j maple

Ummm…. I hate to be the bearer of bad news but neither of those are weeping willows. The top first one looks like wisteria maybe and the second one is a dissectum Acer palmatum (lace leaf Japanese maple)

ahhhh wisteria!!! my bad. question still stands though i have no knowledge of them and would like to propagate some branches

If you can find a weeping willow they are super easy to propagate. Just put some cuttings in a glass of water and in about a week they will begin rooting. This works for any willow except pussy willow.

They root readily when the vines come in contact with the ground, great candidate for ground layering or air layering. As far as cuttings go I don’t know…. I’m used to trying to kill it, not make more 😂 The acer is harder and many of the dissectums are hard to propagate. They don’t like to root or air layer. It depends on the cultivar.

i meant for the wisteria, are they suitable to air layer or take cutting from?

that goes for the dissectum acer palmatum is it too late to do an air layer?

Wisteria likes a neighbor's fence to invade, engulf, and eventually destroy.
