Hello,

This problem started a little while ago but never used to be an issue. Wondered if anyone else sees it.

When uploading pics to a post, it says this:

Untitled.png

This isn't with every picture.. For example, uploading 6 right now, 3 work, 3 dont. The 3 that don't, are bigger in size than the others but same format. And I'm quite sure previously I've just kept trying and then they do sometimes work.
The ones that worked were about 1mb, the ones that don't are 3.4mb.
That can't be the upload limit (@Bonsai Nut ?), many have better cameras and must have bigger file sizes?

The progress gets to 100% or 98% then stops and sits there for a good minute or 2 then fails with the above error.

Any help or suggestions?

Sorry I just edited my previous post. You were too quick!!

I noticed they ARE bigger. My mistake.
The ones not working are 3.4mb. Ones working are about 1mb.
Is that the limit? Surprises me cos so many others have better quality pics that should be bigger file size.

Alright, stuck them in paint, reduced to 75% and was 2.5mb, still too big.

Reduced to another 75% (after the first 75%) is 1.6mb, and works.

Reduced the other 2 by 50% and are now 1.4mb but first time uploading both, failed. Tried again, same size, succeeded... riddle me that?

Maximum files per post is 10. Maximum size per file is 4 MB. However please try to avoid putting 40MB of files in a single post - people viewing this site on cell phones will kill you :)

Maximum file dimensions are 1600 x 1600 so you may find yourself running outside of the dimensions if you try to post an extremely tall or wide image.

Sometimes the issue isn't with the bonsainut site, but with something along the path between your PC and our server. It is pretty easy, when dealing with large files over a long distance, for a connection somewhere to time out and return an error. If you try the same image multiple times, and sometimes it works but sometimes it does not, it is almost always a problem with the connection (somewhere) versus a problem with the site. The site isn't creative enough to only work "some" of the time - either something works always, or it works never.

Sure, you don't have to tell me that, given my profession lol.

Its the dimensions that are causing the issue then. I thought it doubtful that you'd file limit would be 1.5mb. The original pics are 4000x4000. Probably that ;).

I'm aware its not always or even most of the time, the fault of a website. I wouldn't insinuate that. I just knew it wasn't my PC, again, given my profession, so its just something else.
As you say, if it works sometimes then not others, with same exact files, its just something going on in the middle, connection-wise. Its fine, the dimensions was the main thing.
Thanks.

So, pebkac, as my IT director calls it.

Lol, no no... I'm not humble enough to say I was the issue... yet :p. I didn't know the dimension limit and I don't believe its my internet as an issue, its just a simple upload of images.
(Also 2 of the images I just uploaded, although small at <900kb, were 4000x3000, worked fine).

My old work place's version of pebkac was picnic (sounds smoother), Problem In Chair Not In Computer.
