Underdog's Fall Contest Attempt

Stuffed into a beautiful Ching Wen Pot today against all wisdom and hoping it lives. Roots are good and it's popping new growth during our current Indian Summer weather in the 80s this week. The pot is much higher quality than the tree but...
The pot color will accent the bark once cleaned and the subtle green/blue glazing accents will highlight the Blue Stars of this lil Juniper I hope.
Little more love, pruning a few shaggy pads and maybe a couple more fine wires...
Gotta get my daughters camera for the final entry pics very soon. I have a black sheet ready.
Not expecting to win anything but it has been a fun few weeks creating an"instant bonsai"

Love those pots!

It's campaign season so vote for my Blue Star as the other tree candidates are corrupt, dishonest and womanizers... LOL
Let's make my tree great again! JK all good fun.

I bought this ugly Nana as a back-up couple days after I got the Blue Star. $16 at Walmart. Looked green and healthy inside the store. Within days it was all brown. Dunno what I did. Too much sun too soon maybe. Didn't like it much anyway. Maybe it will live. Looks like "The Bat Bush"

Trying shade and part sun. More water/less water for three weeks of steady decline.
I broke the dry long branch while barely bumping it.
It was dying or dead already after 3 weeks in my care and no way it was going to survive winter as is so I gave it a last chance or finished him off last week.
I pulled most of the dead folage off with fingers only.
I pulled the very small and freshly over potted rootball out of the potting soil. Rinsed a bit and gently repotted in oil dry mixed with the bark and some original soil from the rootball in a pot I had which fit the roots without cutting anything. Too late in the year but we've had a warmer than usual streak. 78 next 2 days
It was sooo green when I got it off the shelf "indoors" at walmart. Even under the canopy was bright green foliage everywhere. 2 days in part late fall sun cooked it?
It is showing some hints of greening up since the repot last week. Prolly dead...

Glad my original is doing well as I think I killed this one by sitting it in the yard.
Ya win some and ya loose some. I just like to learn from my mistakes. Dunno...

It looks as dead as fried chicken. It was probably that way when you bought it. They can stay green for a long time.

Love your contest tree though! The second to last pic of your entry is my favorite; I think the bricks make the tree and pot both stand out more.

I've heard that but man it looked so healthy. Not a brown needle to be found for 2 days. LOL
It was obviously repotted very recently but man. I agree. RIP Nana. I'll park him in skid row with a couple others I have hopes of resurrection in spring.

That's my shop wall. LOL I went to all the trouble to find a black table cloth and you like my dirty old garage wall!
I kind of like the block look too now that you mention it. Looks better than my house siding which needs power washed again.
Thanks for the comments.
