Ulmus Americana (American Elm) #71

Cześć! To drzewo ma pąki i liście jak buki europejskie, które dobrze znam.

Dziękuję! Jestem pewien, że istnieje wiele podobieństw do buka europejskiego. (Tłumacz Google użył odpowiedzi)

Nice start. A clear trunk with no obvious scars. Nice

Best trait of beech is its smooth bark, best if can be shown with few or no man made blemishes. Be careful to avoid wire scars, as they can ruin a beech.

I'd consider putting it back in the ground for a few years, but that is up to you. I have heavy clay soil that once a tree roots in, it is difficult to dig it out of the ground even 2 years after putting it in the ground. So grow box growing is how I size up most material. Grow box growing is slower than in ground.

Thanks Leo. I could see this going in a grow box in a few years but I dont think the roots are well structured yet for rapid growth.

Took a look at this today.. fertilized it.. need to make some moves but not sure what yet.

Out of curiosity, do these air layer?

Yes but it takes a while, probably 2+ growing seasons. Not a couple weeks like most Japanese maples or elms
