Twin Trunk Hinoki. Should I repot NOW?

Then it is possible it may be an issue of too much water, it all depends on how wet the soil seems to be. In the end unless you are facing an issue of disease everything come down to water issues, too much kills root through root rot, tree turns yellow, not enough water kills roots and the tree turns yellow. Hinokies do however; need more water than Pines and Junipers.
I mist mine twice a day for five minutes and I have to watch out that they don't get too much water.

Thanks for the tips and the post. That Orbit is the timer I have. I find it pretty reliable but buy a new one every few years just to play it safe. I definitely need to lower the frequency to once or twice per day, figure out the timing, and figure out how long to increase the duration based on the first two parameters.

I use this same timer for my trees. I water my conifers in the morning with a regular oscellating lawn sprinkler for 15-20 minutes.
If its a really hot day, like 95+, then I will use the manual override for 10 minutes when I get home from work, but I rarely have to do that.

What time of day do you have the two cycles set for? My timer only works at 12 hour intervals if I go with twice per day.'

Slipped it into new larger pot.

How did the soil seem to you when you removed it from the original pot? Did it smell foul?

I set my timer on a twelve hour cycle starting at 8:30 AM. Once every twelve hours, so it goes off and 8:30 PM as well. I set the duration for five minutes and even in this heat has been adequate with and occasional off cycle running of the system or a hand water. I also have a ventury with five valves attached to the spigot. Two switched out lets for the mister system, One switched out let for a reciprocating sprinkler for the lawn and areas the misters cannot reach. I have one switched out let attachjed to a garden hose for hand watering if necessary and one unused switched out let for something I may find necessary in the future. I have been using this system for about ten years.

Thanks. I don't think it was foul but it was wet, however we had torrential rains overnight. I think the coarse soil, which I placed in the bottom will help it drain better also. I also removed a nearby mister that was throwing additional water on it.

All you can do is try.
