I have received 50 trident maple seeds now which is a very bad timing I guess.

Should I go over the stratification process I wouldn't be able to plant them before August/September so basically when the stratification should begin

Should I store them and stratify them in a few months means I am lowering they germination probability .

any tips from the more experienced ? would it be possible for them to germinate without stratification ?

thanks

you can do 2 things
1. wait till your fall season begins and cold stratify
or
2.do the water part, soak for 24 hours and then plant and see what germinates , and whatever doesnt just over winter in your garage or someplace cold and wait till next year and put outside again.
ps. keep them protected from critters some how with either of your choices
good luck

I also have a lot of trident seeds that I waited too long to plant. Is storing then in the fridge ok?

Thanks for the reply

I am thinking of splitting them in half

half water part as you said and the other half I stratify them in fall also as you said

however how do I store them till fall ?

i believe you can just leave them in the planting tray. not positive.
the reason i say this is:
you will see some of the seeds that dont germinate this year; in the planting bed, will grow next spring like they would in nature.
you can also do the fridge , but id watch the moisture/mold content , they may rot if too wet.
