Got this trident a few years back from greenthumb bonsai. Decided to go ahead and cut this one shorter. New leader started. Nothing really to do in the near future other than grow it out.

FWIW, it was very difficult to cut the trunk with knob cutters - I will need to do future carving with a dremel as the wood is quite hard.

I agree with SeanS, invest in a set of saws for branch cutting and save the knob cutters for small branches or to finish out a cut close to a branch or "collar".

I have 3 saws at home, 2 different size keyhole Japanese saws and a Silky Gomboy saw.
I have the 240mm version of the Gomboy, I couldn't find it in Amazon, so probably discontinued

I generally use a saw to make big cuts like that. We’ll done using knob cutters
I made the initial straight cut with a saw. I have a really bad habit of messing up my new leaders (need to stop that) so I tried to angle it with knob cutters.

I have something similar from Home Depot. Perhaps it isn't sharp, but I was getting nowhere with it. I had no issues chopping my Acer Rubrum - like butter. The wood on this guy is like wenge or ebony it's so hard.

To be sure, here’s a pic of the rubrum from early in the season - saw went clean through.

When you say you mess up the leader, what do you mean?
I have a larger ARS folding saw for big rough cuts and a small fine Kaneshin saw for precise cuts.
Usually I’ll use the smaller Kaneshin for angled cuts and the do some clean up with a small branch cutter or small knob cutter, plus an Exacto style knife to clean up the edges and any excess wood

LOL, I manage in all different ways. Snapping from wire for example. I find that when sawing on an angle using a little larger saw I end up bumping the leader repeatedly with the back of the saw. Not an issue with the smaller blades. I'll check out the kaneshin.

I use the Kaneshin 84B
