First attempt at trident maple cuttings, taken from purchased pre-material. Simply a learning exercise for me, excited to see success.
April 4 planted in Bonsai soil, kept indoors inside sealed plastic bin with bottom heating pad. Hardwood before buds showing (taken off trunk-chopped limbs from mother tree). Replanted tonight with healthy roots! Hopefully can apply this to future, more “time saving” experiments with larger material.
Still geeked to see them doing well!
Applied hormex as well.
Only attempted the repot as I was concerned about the bonsai soil (and lack of it) for winter insulation, and also felt willing to take the risk during season due to the strong growth they were showing. Versus waiting through winter.
Thoughts welcome.
