There's Ivy growing around the trunk but what species was the tree?

Whatever it was, looks like it was chopped way too low to be worthwhile for bonsai. It would take many years for any new leaders to grow to match that stump.

Hope whoever did that chop used an old chain on the chainsaw. Wire fence not kind to chainsaw!
