Too Much Sun?

I got a Japanese Maple a few weeks ago and its leaves were all green in color but now they are starting to have some discoloration on the outside of the leaves. Is it because there is too much sun? I tried moving it to a more shaded area but that was only a couple days ago.

I'm also considered that maybe it's the fertilizer I added when I first got it?

These looks like new leaves. Some cultivars put out new leaves with reddish edges and they slowly change to green. No sign of leaf burn.

Indeed. Mine does the same.
Back in April when everything looked fresh and all growth was new...

Don't ask what it looks like now...
Acer p leaves are very delicate and my climate kinda roughs them up quite a bit.

Hi Conor,

Are those black tips fungus? My Acer P is getting the same thing (mostly on new leaves). I cut off all of the affected leaves and treated with Natria every week. Have you tried anything different, and was it successful?

Thank you!

It's pretty much what my maple did last year. There are 2 large threads on this forum, talking about what it could be and all that. It was never proven to be anything.. just damage from elements but those black tips on new growth have always made me think it's something going on!
I repotted this spring, out of less than ideal, organic stuff to very free draining inorganic. Has a layer of sphagnum on top now. Still has those same issues... I've another young cheap maple, not really caring much for it, wasn't bought by me or for me. In an organic mix, a lot of bark, has the same issue with burnt looking tips and leaves...
I currently treat my maple with a fungicide, bayer group one. Treated it only twice so far, second application last weekend, first was 4 weeks before that.
