Cotoneaster apiculatus 'Tom Thumb'

10$

I’ve been sick, so I decided I needed a project. IMG_9433.jpegSince it’s mid-late summer, I didn’t want to go hard on it. I did comb out the roots too and bottom with light losing many roots at all. IMG_9434.jpegIMG_9436.jpegIMG_9437.jpegCombed out enough for this pot I purchased from MBS silent auction. Is hand made but don’t know by who.IMG_9441.jpegIMG_9440.jpeganchored it I. With one wire, and used the same soil it came in. I did add some horticultural charcoal.IMG_9446.jpegIMG_9444.jpeg
Very fun project to kill the time.

Nice little project. It's so pretty! I love cotoneaster for a bonsai subject. Mine has little fruits right now. (Sorry, can't post a pic of the whole tree - has frog underneath pot and I don't want to disturb him/her.)

Best of luck with renewed health.

Yes! I’ve had toads under most of my nursery cans on the ground.

Very nice project to help cheer you up! I love cotoneaster. have about a square yard of Tom Thumb from which I waited too long to take cuttings this year, but I've identified the cutting spots for next year.

I hope by now you are feeling much better. I always love seeing the little tree frogs that sleep under my pots during the day.

This one is doing good! I’m restraining myself from cutting back the long portions at top. Hopefully I can get it strong for next spring.

I wish you success with your cuttings! I’ll have to try that. 👍
I’ll be looking for your results next year.

Getting a little color. IMG_9928.jpegHopefully it deepens.IMG_9930.jpeg

These ‘Tom Thumb’ cotoneasters have really got me .
They are dwarfed but still look pretty gnarly. Branches seem to be less angular than other catoneasters I’ve had. As in, they seem to curve more naturally.
I may by another one…or 3. 😆

Nice! Perhaps you will become the Tom Thumb Whisperer!

I was mistaken: my cotoneaster are Strieb's Findling, very small but much more angular like you said. Even so, a little wire might solve the problem if I can get them to root.
