Tiger Bark Ficus Forest

My Wife and I collaborated on this Tiger Bark Ficus forest this week. She grew them from cuttings, the seed tray was 50 cents, the moss was free and the frame I made from leftover moulding. This forest was almost completely free.

I’ll likely use sand for the path for better perspective and we still have to trim the trees, but this was a fun project.

Then I could have just kept on going thinking how wonderful this container is!

That looks like a nice little project, in a number of years though they will likely meld into one little fat clump which could be cool too.

You can probably prune them into nicely gnarled trees and keep a miniature looking forest.

Thanks, yes, we will prune, just put it together first. When the shock is over and it’s established we will style them.

Is there a bottom to it or does the plastic just sit on the sides?

There is a diagonal wood bracket I attached across the bottom plus in between the trays I put peg board for extra support.

Someone once told me that the triple trunk would count as three, so maybe you have a five-tree forest here?

Yea you could certainly look at it that way. Sorry I uploaded an older pic. That one was sold about a year ago. If it was me working it I would cut one of the side ones in half and one a little higher. Creating an Apex, Secondary and third Trunks. they would ramify wherever cut most likely. This is one the one currently being trained. I also attached a 5 tree elm group planting and a Pomagranate forest
