I didn't repot in fall. I bought them in fall. I missed the window in early spring to get them out of the nursery pots and into grow boxes. But they were pretty root bound and started having issues with getting enough water, so I up-potted them as a the temporary fix to give the roots some room and to hold a bit more water. The trees loved it, and had an even more impressive flush than in the picture of when I first bought it. I couldn't have pushed them too hard, I barely did anything to them. The other two I bought, that aren't pictured, I was air-layering the top 3rd or so of them both. If just those 2 died, I could explain it as a problem caused by the air-layers, but all 3 died the same way. Nothing changed in the way I was watering or fertilizing from the 2 full years that they were super healthy.
