Some nice trees. I like the tree in ''best innovative entry'' (Blackthorn I presume?) and the one after that best. What is the tree with the light coloured bark in the light blue pot? Also very nice!

My memory is terible. I should have taken a pic of the display cards aswell shouldn't i oooopppps.

Some fantastic trees and displays! The broomstyle elm in the first shohin display... wow.
Yeah it was a Zelkova japanese elm it won best shohin. The couple who owned that display won 4 awards in total the best deciduous tree the best chuhin tree and best conifer aswell the lucky bugger. lol.
He and his wife must work hard on them though.

I sent a note to Paul (chairman) to see if Mark and Rita Cooper could be coerced into sharing the story of this tree.

I have ready many articles on developing broomstyle deciduous, but it is much harder than it looks. I have never seen a finer example.

I initially assumed it was a Chinese elm because zelkova leaves are larger. I can't imagine the maintenance work to get such perfect ramification.

I would love to hear that story aswell. i wish that i had spoken to them on the day as they were stood right by me aswell.
The whole show blew me away to be fair. There are a lot of very good bonsai enthusiasts out there and all very willing to give advice, And i learned so much just from looking at the trees aswell it was my first ever show and i cant wait for my next one.

How well do you know him?

I know there probly a good reason for it, but that one tree shouldn't be in front of that crack in the backdrop.

Sorry, I follow all the show critiques, and at that level, excellent, those little details shouldn't go overlooked.

Thanks for sharing Rob!

The Mark and Ritta Cooper shohin display took best shohin display home at Noelanders also.

And I'm curious why that tree for best decidious. It's a nice tree, no doubt about it, but I think there's way nicer decidious trees at the show.

I'm with you.

This tree is, by far, the most interesting deciduous for me - it really grabs me! :D:cool: But it is potted too far off-center (that really upsets me and not in a good way) - SAD! ;)
