Four years after his initial rise to fame, Stumpy’s time with us is coming to an end: 159 cherry trees, Stumpy included, will be cut down in May to repair the seawall in that area.

I've seen those sorts of machines before, though fewer and fewer in my area. We used to have a very strong orcharding industry, but local and state officials have tended toward supplanting agriculture and industry in favor of high property values and tourism.
Now days in the States those machines aren't cheap or common.
