stumbled across this vendor/greenhouse

I was there a couple years ago and it was worth the trip from Philly. From VA? can't say.
He had some nice trees and a fair amount of starters if I remember, and was not pushy about selling.
There was one very nice old black pine with a tag of 500 (or something close) on it. No $, just the number. I said, wow I'm buying that, but turns out to have been the tree #. Price was in the thousands I believe. Nothing deceptive, I just misunderstood.

P.S. If you're up that way you might want to stop by Partac Peat Corp for lava.

Thank you for the reply!

All Shapes Bonsai is a great place to pick up good material. The owner, Dave, is extremely knowledgeable and helpful--also not pushy as you've said. They give workshops as well. I hadn't been there for a while, but recently visited and he has added a couple of more greenhouses and lots of pre-bonsai and very organized. I'm not sure where you're coming from, but for me it's about an hour away and well worth the trip. There's also Rosade in Hope PA, just past the NJ/PA border. I haven't been there, but it looks like another good option in that area.
