Just your basic Jiffy cornbread and baking soda combo. I need to start feeding this stuff to my tree rats. My dreams will often include the mass slaughter of squirrels. That's how much I hate the little bastards.

First video recommends 50/50 blend. Second video is targeted more towards mice and rats and recommends a 2:1 ratio of baking soda to cornbread mix (along with cocoa powder, pancake syrup, and bacon grease).

For the sensitive members of BNut, the first video has a live squirrel that does not make it to the end of the video. So don't go naming him Peanut or Wally or Rascal or anything that will get you attached to the little guy.

That second recipe makes me want to try making cocoa cornbread using bacon grease and toping it with maple syrup.

Anyone willing to try this should not be publicly posting about it, and also check their local laws.
In my country, poison can be used but it's illegal if it leads to "unneeded suffering" of the target animal. Which is why sticky traps and slow poisons are forbidden here. My suspicion is that this type of law is present in other countries as well.

I don't give a rats behind about rats and skwerls, but I wouldn't want to see fellow forum members being charged with anything.

If you plan on using it, stick with potassium carbonate instead of the sodium carbonate, same brand, same color box, major difference. Sodium can kill trees. Potassium rarely does.

I'm not going to put the squirrel poison at the base of my bonsai. I'm thinking more in line with a little picnic table with a small plate of poison on it.

More like this:

I honestly have no idea why Adobe Firefly put a top-hat on one of the squirrels.

Yeah they've been bad this year. That and rabbits. They got some of my trees on table the other day. Today came home and some of the ones planted in the ground had all the branches bite off and laying on ground.

Have you tried Iocaine powder?

Thanks for the input Bill. Can you mention how you blend the baking soda and jiffy? Do you use water or some other liquid to do that?
