Squirrel gave me my first bonsai

My first bonsai started as an oak seedling planted in our flower bed no doubt by a squirrel (no oaks in our yard). I potted it and cared for it for about 15 years not really knowing much about the art of bonsai. Now that I’m retired, I plan on getting a little more serious and have recently started several other trees. I’m looking forward to learning more from the folks on this forum.

Welcome. Doing pretty good so far. Most people kill their first tree. Including me.

Trunk development has been challenging. I guess that’s typical when starting with a seedling. Been trying to encourage a sacrificial branch but they all been sprouting so low on the trunk.
