Very interesting. Mine lost a bunch of branches in the apex and needs a redesign. It just flowered so Ill be going after it this weekend somewhat.
What kind of protection do you give it after your winter pruning regimen? Ill probably need to protect mine better.

Sure that the wintercoldness is the reason for that?
Here in the Netherlands, near the coast, the temperature in winter doesn't become so low anymore... But when the temperature becomes below -5 C I put most of the trees in the garage. Most important in winter is that the soil doesn't stay dripping wet too long...
