I quit my long time job in line clearance last week. Almost killed the manager's son for being for want of a better word a dick. He is 24 and was hired in as a supervisor over me. Poor kid thinks he knows it all but can't find his ass with both hands and a flashlight on a sunny day and a map to guide him.
So I went back to doing something I love doing. Running equipment in the woods full time.
This is what I'll be running. It is capable of cutting a 24" diameter tree off the stump in about a half a second and then carry it anywhere I need to lay it down. In this machine I can clear cut 10 acres per day or in a pine plantation thinning around 2000 trees per day.
I ran one in line clearance but only sporadically. The other times it was a chainsaw. And I hate those things. Now I'm in this every day.
Notice how thin the woods is behind the thing. Trees tremble at the sight of it.20170112_100352_001.jpg

Damn Mike! That is one mean machine! I can't get over how the machines evolve to be able to cut so much, so fast! I got buddies who work the western provinces, they drop monsters! I hope things are better, now that you're not working for daddy's boy!

That's a BEAST! Looks fun. Contrast to your hobby.
Pluck me out a Larch up there. I can't find any in Central Ohio.

In the echo of a clear cut valley, all I heard was.....

No more palletized 8822?

That kid will figure it out when he's laid up for months with an injury!

Hopefully it ain't bad.

We had a dude fall off a freezer and die Friday.

Forget not your Safety Gear!

Good move Mike.
More important than Safety first,
Is sanity second!

My sanity is back to where it should be.

What's that I hear off in the distance...I believe it's a very primal barking of one @M. Frary Off to start another day on a job that he loves. That thing is a BEAST! Stay safe my friend...
These things are basically tanks. Even the glass is half inch thick bulletproof Lexan.

I have a small patch of winged elm I've been watching. Maybe that is something you can't find up there? Maybe a little cold there for it as they barely grow this far north.
Seems like an upgrade from running the chain saw for sure. Good for you.
