I picked up this honeysuckle a couple of days ago from a guy I was buying something from. Saw it in his garden and asked about it and he said I could take it. Perfect! It's a bit leggy, but has a nice trunk that I think would make a nice bonsai. I'm going to repot it and cut it back once this cold front has passed and see what happens. No idea what kind of honeysuckle it is or even if it is suitable for bonsai but I think it's worth a try.

That dog may have different ideas about your tree. A bit of an optical illusion in that first picture. I like honeysuckles. First job might be to get it in some good bonsai soil and let it get healthy before trunk chopping etc. Good luck with it.

Haha, he's sulking because I told him off for chewing the broken root sticking out on the bottom right. I've currently got it wrapped up as we're supposed to have an arctic blast this weekend with snow, will be repotting into decent soil next week once the weather has passed

If the small branches/twigs are hollow it's Japanese Honeysuckle. I have a crazy I colected one growing around my pond.
Invasive species here and our Dept of Natural Resources advises burning them. LOL

@SnOW -- that is a beauty, I hope you enjoy the process! It's so exciting to 'find' something, isn't it?

Love your dog too :)
