Well, you know someone had to start it.

In case you had no idea, there's a solar eclipse today that will be visible across the entire Untied States. Being in D.C. we would only see 80% coverage, so I did what any sane person would do. I drove to Tennessee to get into the path of totality.

I'm sitting in a Walmart parking lot and there's a huge crowd gathering to watch. I plan on setting up my camera gear and going crazy.

Anyone else watching?

Nice to be mobile! I am just putting on the live coverage on the Science channel at 11AM. Life has been busy and I made no preparations for viewing/photos's, etc... Enjoy man and please post ;) Are you planning to do a time lapse?

I'm gonna do everything! I've got three cameras I'll be shooting with, so hopefully I get something. I'm able to get pretty close to the sun with my big lens, so we should be good.

What kind of lens do you have...so you can not hurt your eyes while taking the shots? Just curious...

I heard there were so many fake solar glasses. Even some good fakes with the special number authenticating them. That we are using a elders mask. Needs to be a 12-13...preferably 13 I read. My dads adjusts down. But trying to see if we can use the neighbors as well before heading out.

For those not having anything...turn your phone in selfie mode...and view over your shoulder and look through the phone screen to protect your eyes!!!

I drove down from Chicago to Waterloo,IL for the eclipse. My nephew married a girl from here last and we met them for dinner Saturday night. Yesterday we went to Cohokia Mounds, built in around 1100 ad by Native Americans. Then to Fort de Chartes the oldest French outpost in the Illinois Country. Then to St. Louis to go up in the Arch.

Also stopped by and saw the house my grandfather built and my dad lived in till he was eight. The house my great grandfather built was next door.

Wife and kids should be there by noon, hopefully (thanks for having them). I'm stuck at work expressing anal glands...:D
The house is a wreck! Kid packing for college!

I mowed the grass, so it looks good outside.

We are very close to a prime spot for viewing here. A little farther south they are expecting huge crowds, hotels and people renting rooms in their houses, sold out. Ameren has told all of their people to stay off the roads, expecting terrible traffic jams and accidents.

my company bought glasses so everyone in the office can watch. Should be kinda cool.

I thought about driving somewhere to be in the path of totality, but decided to wait until 2024 when the next eclipse occurs. The path of totality for that one passes over western NY and right over my house. Of course, it is in April so there's probably a 75% chance it will be cloudy here...

Enjoy it, I've heard that a total eclipse is one of the most amazing natural phenomena you can experience.

And how could I forget Ozzy Osbourne will be singing Bark at the Moon during the eclipse at the Moonstock Eclipse Festival in southern Il!
