I just got a tidy little Chinese Elm that I am considering actually keeping Shohin size. Any suggestions on development plans? Should I remove the middle branch/trunk angled same direction as main new trunk or leave into a split dual trunk with the two on outside?

Or do I leave all three and go more shrub like?

Personally I would remove center trunk and cut other smaller trunk back to first branch. I know that may seem extreme to some, but that is exactly what I would do.

No, that seems appropriate to start growing second away from main. Like below?
