Silica gel as "water storing crystals"

No. But I could see how this could be a thought because the entire water gel stuff is a crazy rabbit hole.
  • Polyacrylamide Hydrogel (this is miracle grow crystals):
    • Retains/holds water and forms a gel sphere
    • It is an organic compound made from acrylamide.
    • It can form a gel when it holds a lot of water, which is called a hydrogel.
    • It is used in things like water treatment and scientific experiments.
  • Silica Gel:
    • Absorbs moisture from air
    • It is made from silicon dioxide (SiO2) and is not a plastic.
    • It looks like small beads and is used to absorb moisture and keep things dry.
    • It is an inorganic material, meaning it doesn’t come from living things.
  • Plastics:
    • Plastics are synthetic materials made from polymers that can be shaped into many products.
    • Polyacrylamide and silica gel are not considered plastics.
    • Something different but probably the best.
Two great articles:
  1. https://bigscrubrainforest.org/uncategorized/fact-or-fiction-do-water-crystals-work/
  2. https://www.nature-and-garden.com/gardening/hydrogel.html
I think we all kinda knew but never really discussed the exact differences. Great info, though. Looking for a chance to read those articles.
