This is a true root cutting of cork bark elm, that is, it is a chunk of root that sprouted. I am pretty sure this tree is upside down, the root was planted upside down so the tree would have some taper. I have five of these I am training, thought I would share progress on one. When I received this it was just a block of wood with a few shoots and a few roots. I nursed it into robust health and began selecting branches. The leader took a year of extension to achieve the proper size. I plan on shortening the tree about two inches next spring, as it is it stands about 8 inches tall and is wider than a bottle of Summit Saga, one of Minnesota's finest. Thanks to Telperion Farms !

Pic taken with an iPhone. Look how beautifully the beer bottle came out !

I have had it three years and it looks to have been only a year planted when I got it. Very few roots or branches.

Wow.. This is really nice. What an amazing cutting this is. Can you post pics of the rest of them. Also, any earlier pics?

The beer bottle did turn out nice. The tree doesn't look too bad neither. One question. Does the tree look even better after a few? Haaaaaaaa
