Hellow Nutter,

Today I will share my water jasmine bonsai progress, this is very different from other water jasmine that I shared before.

Now I will make SHITO WATER JASMINE with nebari

Let's start :

Last year I have water jasmine material like this

Then I cut it until the night only 2 cm

IMG_20240325_130739.jpg

After 2 month then try to develop nebari

IMG_20240325_131337.jpg
So try to choose the right root and do spread like this. Try using some wire to hold the root position

After 6 month :

The root become more stable,
IMG-20240325-WA0025.jpg
and we can do nebari proses phase 2.

So in phase 2, we do some cut in large root so it can be devide again

After 3 month it will like this

IMG_20240320_114954.jpg

Let's do some cut again so we need only 2-3 root from each main root

IMG_20240325_135013.jpg

So it will become like this

And other position :
IMG_20240325_091407.jpgIMG_20240325_091404.jpg
IMG_20240325_091416.jpg

That's it's, the development nebari near complete, now we can focus on trunk to main branch

Lets wait until the next update

This looks great. I just purchased a Water Jasmine and hope to duplicate your success. Do you mind if I ask what you are using as a soil mixture?

Hi Headhunter

I will share based on my experience

Soil Mixture: I'm using 3 layers,
  1. The bottom layer is black volcanic rock
  2. mid layer is black vulcanic rock mixed with organic matter (I'm using bamboo humus) ==> comparison 2:1
  3. The top layer is the black volcanic rock
for the Fertilizer I'm using
  1. slow release fertilizer, I mix with bottom and mid-layer soil
  2. Guani fertilizer, mix in the top layer

water jasmine really needs full sunlight and also windy environmental conditions

Many thanks Faisal. I'm a Newbie and over the past few days my inventory is challenging my brain to catalog all the necessary information. 2 Satsuki Azaleas, Bald Cypress, Kanzan Cherry, American Hornbeam, Mountain Laurel, Rosebud Azalea and I have another Hino Crimson coming in very soon. My head is spinning. I do feel that I'm overthinking some stuff, but that's typical me. Thanks again and I hope we have the opportunity to chat again.

UPDATE 23 July 2024

My container for this bonsai seems broken now. Actually this container made from plastic and have pretty old age 😂

Okay then let's try to repotted to other container. First remove the broken container

Need to clean the root so we can do some selection again.

After cleaning 🥰
IMG_20240723_100037.jpgnow, we can do some selection in the root. Cut the unwanted root so nebari become more strong impression

After selection root 😍
