Made my first batch of muck today and used it to plant a shimpaku on a piece of limestone. The tree has been in my inventory for over a year now and still has a long ways to go but I think it will fit with the shape of the stone very nicely. The limestone has lots of holes that I filled with much so lots of places for roots to colonize. I added a cotoneaster coral beauty as an accent as well as some hens & chickens. I'm a little concerned about the limestone changing the pH and hurting the plant but I'm hoping the muck will create enough of a buffer to offset.
Next, I put my larch forest onto a slab of granite that I brought back from private property in Canada. I'm mostly happy with it. It is higher than I would have liked but that's partially from the crest in the granite slab and partially from not greatly reducing the existing root ball. I could have flattened it out more but I think it will be all right.
