Shari on a Juniper

Hi all

I’ve never created shari before on a tree. Thoughts on “design” of shari, ie. where you might do it on this tree? Would you have it all the way up the front or wrapping around the tree? Starting on inside ie left hand side as you look at tree or right hand side? Any and all thoughts welcome

Avoid creating shari that spirals around the trunk. You can wind up killing the tree. Juniper have live veins that are more active than the rest of the trunk. Try to use those before cutting in a shari

Peeling the loose bark off the trunk can reveal those veins
