Hello,
I'm looking to get my first bonsai tree, and I'm wanting to put it in a vivarium with a dart frog.

Any suggestions for a suitable tree species would be very appreciated. I would even appreciate being informed there aren't any that would work.

The environment will be closed, kept at 25°c(77°F) and roughly 85% humidity. There will be some ambient light, and 12 hours every day of an 8w uv light.

Thank you very much.

One of the many choices of ficus. A dwarf one for a small container and so on.

You will need to add a full spectrum grow light. This could be an LED planted aquarium light, or many other LED gorw lights. Penumbra is right, I can't think of a better bonsai candidate than one of the smaller ficus species and cultivars.

I really appreciate this. I was thinking either benjamina or Hawaiian umbrella. So bemjamina it is.

I don't know how large you set up is, but I assume that it is pretty small. There are a lot of benjamini cultivars and some get rather large. You might consider "Pandora", "Too Little", "Golden Gate" or another dwarf. If you want a splash of variegation, "Nicole" can't be beat and "Nina" is also good.

That's a good point. I have now procured a "Too Little".
