Seiju Elm Growth

Just got my first seiju elm from club sale growth is farther from the trunk then I care for.
Wondering how to encourage growth closer to the trunk.

Without seeing it, I'd say cut back hard. They will back bud like crazy if healthy and strongly growing.
As always a picture will get you more and better responses.

Pictures would be good but Seiju elm is just a small leaf Chinese elm. They bud back really well when chopped so I'm with @Mike Westervelt Prune hard to get lower growth.
