I reclaim bonsai soil as much as I can to save money and because I live in an area where bonsai soils are not in local stores. My best choice would be to drive to Portland Oregon for inexpensive pumice. Any shipping for anything is off the wall for me because of freight charges. I have 1/8" and 1/4" screens but have been unable to get 3/8" screen. Does anyone know of a place where I can purchase a piece of that? AS always, help appreciated. Thanks!

I don’t have a set, but lucked out just finding a wire basket from a home goods store that has worked really well as a screen for me.

Pretty much every type of wire mesh your heart could desire:

I'd recommend the industrial section. Use the menu, choose a material, and find the size.

This one is pretty close in galvanized:

Edit: the quantities/minimum sizes are much higher than I remember, sorry!

You're probably looking for a "3 mesh" screen. 3 openings per inch. That will probably be the closest to 3/8 (a bit smaller).

I contacted TWP as suggested above. It would be several hundred dollars to get a 24" X 24" piece of this screen to me. I used to be able to buy a piece like that and shipping was reasonable. Not happening now. Many places want to sell a complete roll verses a small piece.

Have you looked at a local hardware store by any chance? I've bought small rolls of galvanized hardware cloth in the past from Lowes/Home Depot. Don't remember the size but probably 1/4 inch I think, maybe 3/8.

Lol @gooeytek and I on the same wavelength

I just wanted to update this thread to let those interested know that I did fiond supplier that had 3/8" hardware cloth. The Company that I got it from was:
Meyer Bees, Minooka, Il, phone # 815-521-9116. they also have a website of, meyerbees.com. They happen to have this size screen because it allows bees to get in the hives, but not mice. I bought the smallest piece that they would sell, 2'X 4' and all total is was $35.00 or so. I was happy to get it. I have a screen made and ready to go. Nice people at Meyer's Bees to deal with by the way. Pictured is the new 3/8" inside diameter screen on the top and a 1/8" stainless steel screen below that, Also have 1/4" and a 1/2" screens.

PS: that is not a screen to the right. That is a grow box built for a big yamadori.

I had looked and looked and this is the only place that had the 3/8" inside measurement screen. Cajun did show a round screen that was the correct one but I needed a bigger piece for my screen. I have tried to find out where the source is for the material in those round screens but no luck.
