Scrap Wood for Pots?

My company has a lot of scrap plywood that they just pitch in the dumpster. Can I use this for cheap "pots" for training? I have seen wooden pots before but not sure if ply wood is ok? It is not OSB but 3/8" to 3/4" CD plywood.

I would like to make several 6x8" pots that are about 4" deep for several items I need to take out of glazed pots for the winter.

Go for it. Just be sure to leave space/ drill holes for drainage, then cover the openings with mesh to keep your planting medium from falling through.

the main prob. with ply is, the rate at which it rots...
can seal it, but by the time one does that, might be easier to buy regular wood ???

Absolutely. Plywood just doesn't last as long as solid wood for training pots. It tends to delaminate from the moisture and exposure, but usually by that time you are ready for a new pot anyway.

I figured the wood wood fall apart but its free. So if I do not put money out and the wood only lasts 6 months I build another one and put the plant in it.
