Saotome azalea

Just wanted to share this awesome little azalea that does not bloom, I got it from Dylan at cedar rose nursery and he said it’s a version that does not flower and would make a nice accent plant after doing some research it might be called saotome azalea

I recently obtained a 3” pot of an even smaller leave azalea than Saotome, it’s called “Saotome Komachi”. The leaves are long, narrow and curly. I placed a chop stick next to the leaves for size comparison.

This is my first with this cultivar, don't know how easy it is to flower. But I saw some with flowers for sale in Rakuten site, flowers look like a small chinzan.

I got it from Moss Design Gallery in Houston, mossdesigngallery.com. They have many mame and shohin. Some of them, like this one, is very suitable for use in moss landscape design.

I wanted to buy the attached monastery landscape set up, it is so calm and meditative, but mt wife said I had to give up three bonsai to bring it home. Tough choice. There weeks later, I went back to the store, it was sold! So much for my meditation.
