Lucky for me I purchased this tree the morning of the state show so it was my back up when my other juniper wasn’t up to snuff. I didn’t get a pic before doing anything but here is the tree with just a light cleaning and some wire applied.IMG_6747.jpeg
Here is the tree as it sits now.

Here is the future of the tree as I slowly reduce the excess foliage.

I plan to likely repot into bonsai soil next year depending on how it grows this season. Might keep it one more growing season in its current container.

I like it. Is there a particular style or shape you have in mind beyond the work you’ve put in thus far? Rafia looks good and wiring is clean.

I also see both mature and juvenile foliage. Curious if after the next round of pruning etc. it will pump out tons of juvenile foliage and revert back to juvenile. I like the juvenile personally as it fills is in nicely overall for density.

Looks like you've got an interesting line and branches in the right spots. Go ahead and lay out the pads now to set it up for development further down the road.

Nothing planned other than slowly reducing down the the bones of the tree as it starts to grow more there. I’ll sit with the tree this season and think more before much more action is taken. I’ll take credit for most of the wiring but the raffia was 100% the work of Hugo the instructor.

It’s hard to tell by the picture but even the small tufts of foliage are wired out on the main future of the tree already.
