Came across this contest and thought it might be fun to join with my (wild) rose. I was considering placing it over a rock anyways.

Grown from seed over the past 3(?) years. Possibly Rosa rubiginosa or similar. Removed some branches previously but extended quite a lot so gave a heavy pruning this summer. Not much growth after that so that will have to wait till next spring after which I can bring it in closer to the trunk again and form some proper pads including a new smaler one as top? The roots did thicken a lot and don't look good at the moment so will have to see what can be done with them when I repot in spring (should have done so already this year or last)...

Current height ~15 cm (6")

Will be following the other entries with interest. Quite new to bonsai. Feedback appreciated.

Greetings, Rutger.

Repotted my Rose, putting it on a rock. Roots aren't great but after trying several different stones I found an arrangement that is half-decent. Covered it all in a thin layer of muck and moss and will see how it develops and what it looks like once I start exposing the stone and roots again... Still have to rewire.

Been shaping it some more and hopefully it is developing more roots to be exposed later...
