Glad you got that wire off. When wire is so tightly spaced that it looks like the Michelin Man it's not only ugly, but also hard to get a wire cutter into.

A photo of mine from the same batch. Went on holiday for a week and let It to the care of my automatic overwatering system. It thanked me with some nice flowers a lot of suckers from the roots and a few mushrooms.
Definitely a flowering quince.
I will do a soft repot in August to avoid It drowning this Winter
