At the recent GSBF convention I ordered a new Suiban for this stone. The new Suiban will be 2 inches longer and deep green in color.

Hey Al,

Glad to see you back to the normal posting pattern. Great stuff. Will the new suiban be similar to the container pictured?

Would it be too literal, in a formal display, to put water in the pools? Does that step over "suggestion" and into telling the viewer too much, interpreting too much?

I imagine the subtlety of keido would be disrupted.

In this case even in kei-do it would be OK to have water in the pools. When displaying a water pool stone in a suiban water in the pools is Ok as long as there is a place and trail for the water to escape. In this case when looking at the waterpools it is easy to see that both curl towrds the center, meet, then flow off the edge probably representing a waterfall down the the side.

If this were used as an object stone with a tree, it would be placed in a wooden daiza and used dry with a bamboo water dipper.

*Victrinia is drooling over the scroll...*

It's just perfection... you have a treasure.

Thank you dear, I love it too:D:D:D

Al, you mentioned displaying with a bamboo water dipper. Where does one find bamboo water dippers?
Mary B.

Have you received your suiban yet? Toko Kazari is coming.

It seems like they would be quite easy to make. Never tried though.

Yes I did thanks for asking. It turned out quite well.

At the bamboo waterdipper store???? I went there and had a hard time finding the one I wanted.

So like Noissee said..I went for it and made my own.

Now the dilemma...I have decided to not show this stone and have abandoned that idea alltogether since the rules say that everything goes for your display having only one condition...it must contain a bonsai.

soooooo.....having just said that I will be displaying a tree with scroll and a different stone. Still an object stone and fairly anthropomorphic. I like pushing the envelope.

That suiban is FAR better than the blue one. The water dipper is pretty sweet. It can't be more than one inch. Very nice.

"Contemplating his navel...or something"

Or the lint within, where does that stuff come from.

Cool rocks Al, although I am trying to not appreciate them too much, not ready for a new hobby or branch within another.
