Red Japanese Quince

Really nice the pale blue or green USB pot color contrasts nicely with the flower color and the gray black bark.

I love flowering quince. @Cadillactaste and any shopping flowering quince. The larger types like 'Toyo Nishiki', 'Iwai Nishiki', and Evergreen's 'Toyo Nishiki Improved' plus others like 'Nivalis', all are fully winter hardy in the ground or large nursery pots through zone 5a. The miniatures are less hardy, maybe zone 7 or 6b. In bonsai pots I give them more protection.

'Chojubai' and 'Hime' are my favorite miniatures with 'Kan Toyo' being a close third place. 'Chojubai' tends to be overpriced, though an old 'chojubai' with bark is worth the premium price, cuttings should be cheaper than they are. 'Hime' is very similar to 'Chojubai' without development of bark and should be less than$20 for a one to two year old rooted cutting. Quince on a budget.

I like the 'Double Take' series of large hybrid quince available through nursery trade. They behave much like 'Toyo Nishiki'.
