I recently purchased a bougainvillea and it seems to be distressed. It overall just seems weak. The leaves are very fragile and easy to pick off. Almost brittle. Yellowing around the edges of the leaves and overall yellowing of the leaves. Its dropping numerous leaves a day. I keep it indoors with my other bonsais who seem to do fine. I was wondering if anyone could diagnose the issue?

That's a nice tree. Why are you keeping it inside? Mine drop leaves like crazy when I have to bring them inside for the winter. I try to keep them outside as long as I possibly can.

Unfortunately, i live on the second floor of a downtown area so i do not have access to a yard :/

I second the lighting “direction of thought”...

I actually have to bring mine in tomorrow.. it started OUTWARDLY expressing it’s disgust at my nighttime lows. 🤓

Has it always looked like this?... you said that you had recently purchased it?.. how recently?.. and what led TO now?

the yellowing around the edges have been present Since i got it but seem to be worsening overtime. Ive owned it for about a week now. It went from greenhouse straight to led at my apartment.

These are pictures from the first day I purchased it.1D18A72C-595B-4AA7-8F5E-EA36602ED907.jpeg19FB2258-FAA2-43FC-834B-E0AB07592220.jpeg

They will be OK with those temps. You don't want it inside any longer than it has to be.

I don't think it looks that much worse. Give is a little time to get used to it's new home.

Alright! I’ll let it ride! I wasn’t sure if I should around 55 av. Or 45 av.
I trust you.. so now I know.

Once overnight temps dip below 50, I usually round everything up and bring them inside. But last fall we had a couple nights dip into the 40's before I got them in and they were Ok. But they are all up close to the house, so that probably helped.

Gotcha! Thank you much!

I bring mine in when the thread of frost gets persistent. Mine move against the house in a sheltered spot in fall.

Don't be shocked when 80% of the leaves drop of within a few days. Do keep an eye out for spider mites and especially wholly aphids. I find mine is a true buffet for them.
