Wow such incredibly sad news... I just read over on one of the Facebook Forums that Paul passed yesterday. I'm not sure of the details but it was certainly unexpected. I have met the man and had a great conversation about pottery and using stainless steel as a medium. He really was a great guy to talk to and very supportive of the idea. My thoughts and prayers go out to his family.

I believe my friend Barb thought highly of his work...I liked his Facebook wall by her pointing out his pottery to me. Sad to hear of this...prayers to the ones left grieving.

Shocking! I am very sad to hear this. I have a great respect for Paul and I'm really sorry to hear this. My favorite thread here at Bnut was the conversation/teaching thread about pottery that we had a while ago, he really had great feel to his work, and was a very nice person. My condolences to his family and friends.

I just figured out who he was here at the Nut. Not a frequent poster here recently but always a nice presence and so knowledgeable about pots and bonsai in general. My condolences to his family.

Thank you
I regret to say I have not had the pleasure of talking with him.

Our community is small enough, so when we lose one, it has wide ranging effects

This is very bad news to hear we lost another amazingly talented man. I just talked to him at the bsf/abs convention a couple of weeks ago, he seemed in good health at the time. My prayers goes out to his wife.

Unbelievable.

I would like to ask @Bonsai Nut to take the thread that Paul was so kind to participate in to teach about the process of the pot/tree selection, and put it in the tutorial section. The thread is this one. I am very saddened by this, I loved his pot work, and his trees were always so natural. I also know that he was the kind of guy who wouldn't put a pot out that was not perfect by his standards, even if it would be by someone else. The thread is this one. He taught me a lot here.

Paul was a super nice guy, with an obsessive passion for his pottery. I was fortunate enough to meet him and buy a couple pots from him over the years. It's sad there won't be any more.

Dear all,

I am Paul's daughter, Kristina. While drafting the obituary, I remembered how active he was on Bnut and searched for him. It warms my heart so much to hear of your appreciation of his work and his character. My father was 61 years old and suffered a sudden cardiac arrest on June 12. He treated all activities in his life with the same dedication and conscientious as he did his pottery.

For those of you that own his pots, could you please share images of your tree in pot compositions. This would mean so much to my mother and me. We are planning an very informal memorial service this weekend, and are contemplating how to best share the beauty of his passion. Please send them to bellota.pots@gmail.com , subject line: Bellota pot planting [Your Name]

For those friends in North East Florida, the memorial will be at 10am, this Saturday, June 17 at the Garden Club of Jacksonville. 1005 Riverside Ave, Jacksonville, Florida 32204

Bellota Pots, now headed by my mother, with continue to operate as we sell his remaining pottery stock, as well as his collection of trees, which he has cared for almost 30 years. It is important to us that his trees go to good homes, where they will be cared for, appreciated, and respected.

While we are very busy at the current time, if you are interested in buying Bellota pottery, please email the address above in a few weeks and follow the FB page: https://www.facebook.com/bellota.bonsai.pots/. Nothing would make us happier than to know that his work will continue to be appreciated by the Bonsai community.

Thank you again.
