Punica Granatum/Pomegranate

Are pomegranate known for not responding to trunk chops?
Thanks for asking.
Yes, if the big trunk is cut off, the chance of that trunk survival is very slim! I think it is the way the tree tries to protect itself from further damage by pushes all of its energy to small branches. To counteract of this process, we need to treat the tree as a big cutting !

I recently dug this up and placed it in a box for further development

Some progress. I feel like it needs to gain a bit more vigour though. The cuttings taken from it are further along this spring.
Haven't gone overboard on the wiring or hollows. Just a bit here n there. I like where its headed. Feel like I may have been watering it too much. Cut back on watering and it has responded a bit better. Feel like they like it a bit dry being a Mediterranean species. Stark contrast from a Beech, Hornbeam or Elm.

The tree is healthy enough. I did a little bit on the small hollows.
