Got this one as a christmas gift. I know the graft is ugly. However, I am wondering if u guys see any potential in this material?

I have one in a pot for a couple years now.
I have another one to chop and dig up this spring. They grow like weeds in my yard because my neighbor has 4 large ones along his driveway.
Beautiful trees, great flowers and autumn colors.
Looks like a good starter for a broom style.

If you can put it in the ground or a very big training pot I would go for it, then used to propagation and make airlayers like a "mother" tree

My experience with most Prunus is that they are magnets for every conceivable pest, bug, fungus, etc. But I keep trying them. When they flower I start thinking again that they might be worth it. Anticipate more aggressive pest management.
