Was looking for hinoki cyprus at the nursery, no luck on that front. But found 3 somewhat single trunked out of 150 shruby bushes Potentilla that had potential. The third tree i may go back for it had the potential for an amazing broom style shohin with a massive cut back. Also i did the repot now because I have a heated greenhouse and my not have the time this spring. OK I lied.. I'm just impatient and like to tempt fate and possibly burn money on the occasion. This thread is just to document the progression of these two maybe three if I'm smart.. I seen a potentilla go for over 500 bucks on the Facebook auctions last week and it wasn't that great for the price to be honest... it was nice tho no hatin here i burn money all the time soooo yea.. Anyone with potentilla please post pictures if you would be so kind. Any thoughts on design for my two possibly three are always welcome 🙏. . Ohhh yea the first tree has pink flowers and the second orange ones... or I may have mixed them up hopefully they will grow this next spring and I'll get my memory jogged.20241207_023245.jpg20241209_085309.jpg20241209_085401.jpg20241209_085329.jpg20241206_235556.jpg20241208_214825.jpg20241208_214933.jpg

they look great after pruning, looking forward to seeing these in leaf.

Me as well. I've been been on the lookout for a single trunked potentilla for years so I'm very excited to see how they develop. Now that i think about it I'll probably grab the third tree as insurance policy if my early winter repot doesn't pan out. I'll repot and sell one if all three make it this summer
