Pond Basket Mulch

I’ve ordered some mulch.
I’m wondering if this is a smart play to mulch my outdoor trees in their container with a pond basket. Thanks

Perfectly fine, but will work best if the pond baskets is placed on the ground.

Perfectly fine, but will work best if the pond baskets is placed on the ground.

Worried that it won’t catch much sun from the balcony. It’s littered with stuff. Moving at end of the month, so hopefully a good winter for them.
