Had this tree since around 4 years, moved to bonsai soil 3 years back. Left it to recover since then and many straight branches shot straight up from low in the tree to above tree height. It gets new growth early summer so thought I would leave leaves to harden and then prune and work.in styling a bit maybe. Yet I seem to be getting another growth spur.
When is a good time to style, prune and remove branches for podocarpus. Tree was styled when I got it and will be following same approach after cleaning the straight branches. Need to remove a ouple bar branches and then work on the pads.
Also appreciate input on style plan for the tree if u believe I should go different.
I'm considering moving to rectangle dark brown non glazed pot???

Nice tree! I have a related question to Podocarpus since I'm a relatively newcomer to bonsai. Is there any period that Podocarpus sheds its leaves? Mine right now is yellowing and falling like flies for a couple of weeks and shows no sign to stop. It stays outside in a sunny spot all the time and I just can't figuring out what are the causes. Thank you.
